Delhi High Court on Thursday restrained the unauthorised broadcast of the India-Pakistan cricket series by cable operators across the country who do not have a licence from Ten Sports. Taj Television, licensee of Ten Sports, moved court on Thursday, seeking an injunction on unauthorised broadcasts. The court has appointed local commissioners who have been authorised to check on any such broadcast.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court reserved its orders on two PILs seeking broadcasting rights for the cricket series to Doordarshan. The petitioners 8212; Krishnaswamy Associates Private Limited and the Citizen, Consumer and Civic Action Group 8212; said Prasar Bharati was a statutory body created primarily to protect the interests of the public with regard to access to such major sports events.
