Delhi go down to Orissa 0-2

Scoring once in each half, Orissa won the 18th sub-junior national women8217;s hockey championship by defeating Delhi 2-0 here today.

Orissa, who went into the lead in the 23rd minute through a superb field goal by Roselin Dung Dung and extended the lead when Binita Kindo converted a penalty corner in the 52nd minute.

The Orissa girls maintained total command over the proceedings without allowing their opponents to gain any advantage.

In the first session Orissa repeatedly raided the Delhi citadel, not allowing their rivals to maintain any cohesion between their defenders and forwards. Delhi had a good chance of scoring in the 42nd minute when Monika dangerously moved towards the Orissa goal mouth. But she failed while finishing it off as her shot went wide off the post.

Five minutes later, Savita floundered another chance.
