Seventeen held on charge of gambling
Seventeen persons were arrested on Monday night from the Kotla Mubarakpur area of south Delhi on the charge of gambling. Among those arrested are Ram Saran and Kishan, the owner of a house in South Extension and his son respectively. The police say that a total stake money of Rs 1,52,550 was recovered.

One arrested for excise evasion
Anti-evasion officials of the Central Excise Commissionerate have detected a case of clandestine removal of wires and cables valued at over Rs three crore without payment of excise duty to the tune of over Rs 40 lakh by Batra Henlay Cables. Virendra Singh, commissioner, Central Excise, said in a statement on Tuesday that one person had been arrested in this connection.

Man booked under Arms Act
The staff of a PCR van nabbed Hem Chander in Awantika Colony for possession of a knife. He was handed over to the Mangolpuri police and booked under the Arms Act.

Private bus knocks down scooterist
A scooterist was knocked down by a private bus on the Ring Road near Dhaula Kuan on Tuesday morning. Bachan Singh, a resident of Tilak Nagar, died on the spot. The R.K. Puram police have registered a case of accident and arrested the bus driver, Ravinder Kumar.

16-yr-old dies after falling off bus
16-year-old Narender, a resident of Trilokpuri, died on Monday morning after falling off a moving Blueline bus plying between Trilokpuri and Kamla market. He was standing near the front gate of the bus. Narender was declared dead at the SDN Hospital.

The Trilokpuri police have registered a case of accident and arrested the 35-year-old bus driver, Ram Chander, a resident of Trilokpuri.
