Delhi blasts suspects caught in Bengal

Two persons, one of them a Bangladeshi, who were allegedly involved in low-intensity blasts in south Delhi, have been arrested from West Bengal while three others were reportedly detained by the police.

Five crude bombs and one countrymade firearm and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the duo who were picked up from Santipara under Bhaktinagar police station area in Jalpaiguri district.

The arrests were made after the Delhi Police interrogated one Mohammed Hakim in connection with the blasts in Malviya Nagar and Hauz Khas areas of the Capital. Hakim had divulged information about some of his associates in Santipara.

According to sources, the arrested have been identified as a Bangladeshi national Yessin Muhammad, 25, and Muhammed Maniuddin, 42.

Joint Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar, said: 8220;The team is on its way back to Delhi. Further details can8217;t be revealed now. Things will become clear once the accused are interrogated.8221; Kumar also didn8217;t confirm the number of persons who were detained.

Police further stated that they were not sure about the arrested persons8217; involvement in the Gujarat blasts. 8220;A few more associates of this gang might be on a run. We are investigating the matter,8221; a senior police officer stated.
