Memorandum to DUTA president
A section of Delhi University teachers have given a memorandum to DUTA president Shri Ram Oberoi, asking him to hold a general body meeting before a final settlement is reached with the Human Resource Development Ministry over the issue of the pay scales. The teachers, who were on a token hunger strike on Wednesday, have threatened to intensify the agitation if the meeting is not convened.

Electricity, water bills collection centres
New Delhi Municipal Council has opened six electricity and water bills collection centres. The Nirma Bhawan centre will accept cheques from Monday to Friday, the Palika Bhawan and R.K. Puram centres from Monday to Saturday. The Kaka Nagar centre will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, the Cancer Detection centre at Bengali Market on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The Parliament Annexe office will be open on all five working days and the Palika Kendra throughout the week. These centres will be functional from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Palika Kendra centre will accept both cheques and cash between 8.30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Drive against bogus ration cards
Minister for Food and Supplies Poornima Sethi has appealed to individuals and owners of fair price shops to surrender their bogus ration cards voluntarily within a month. She added that after a month a drive will be started by the Food and Supplies department to identify bogus ration cards in the city. Subsequently, stern action will be taken against the defaulters, under the Essential Commodities Act, which includes a provision for imprisonment.

Reservation for girls
The post of vice-president in the various students8217; unions in the polytecnics in Delhi have been reserved for girls. The administration has taken this decision following pressure from the polytechnic students, supported by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad ABVP and the National Commission for Women. The Department of Training and Technical Education has further instructed the institutions to ensure that the candidates have a good conduct record and have cleared all their dues. Students with criminal records are not eligible to contest.

DU diploma results
Delhi University has announced results of the diploma course in Tibetan, diploma in Pali and certificate course in Pali. Students can get their results from their respective colleges.

Power supply disrupted
Power supply in Krishna Nagar, Shahdra, Vishwas Nagar, Masjid Moth, Sheikh Sarai, Defence Colony, Katwaria Saria, Sarvodaya Park, Hauz Khas and Saket was disrupted on Wednesday due to local faults.

Campus presidents
The National Students Union of India NSUI has appointed campus presidents of Delhi University and district presidents for the Delhi State. Maanik Tagore has been made in-charge of the Delhi State NSUI.

DDA facilation-cum-information counter
A facilitation-cum-information counter has been opened by the Delhi Development Authority at Vikas Bhavan. A computer terminal giving details of priority number of schemes will be on hand and counselling on housing and land issues will be available.

Delhi Cine Goers Council meet Sushma
A delegation of the Delhi Cine Goers Council met Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj and submitted a 21 point memorandum to her. The memorandum is aimed at improving the standards of films and better coordination with the Censor Board.

USIS libraries on the Internet
The American Center libraries in India announced the release of it new World Wide Web home page at http:/americanlibrary.in.library.net/. The World Wide Web Home Page allows anyone in India with an Internet connection to search the book catalogue of the United States Information Service8217;s American centre Libraries in India.
