Dav to quit after India series

India8217;s Test and one-day tour of Bangladesh will be the last time Dav Whatmore will coach the hosts before he steps aside at the end of May. 8220;Whatmore has decided not to renew his contract, which ends on April 30, but has agreed to coach the team in May when India visit Bangladesh for a three one-day and two-Test-match series,8221; a Bangladesh Cricket Board statement said today.

The 53-year-old Australian took over as Bangladesh coach after the 2003 World Cup and has guided the team to 33 wins in 88 one-day internationals besides their first Test victory, against three draws and 21 defeats. He has agreed to remain in charge until the end of May so that the Board could find his successor.

8220;Dav Whatmore has cited personal reasons for his decision for not renewing the contract but has agreed to extend his contract by one month in order to help the team to prepare for the India series,8221; the BCB release said.

Whatmore had earlier expressed an interest to take over as India coach after Greg Chappell declined to renew his contract.
