NEW DELHI, Sept 9: DAV Public School, Pitampura, overcame St Joseph’s High School 2-1 after a gruelling battle in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament.
DAV School took lead through Khokan in the 45th minute. Five minutes later, Mukesh added another to their tally. St Joseph’s reduced the margin in the 56th minute through Ashif. In other matches, Govt High School, Dimapur (Nagaland) defeated MCC High School, Calicut (Kerala) 5-0. Mengu (15th, 17th, 55th), Vikuzu (37th) and Imti (45th) were the scorers.
Khamasom Govt High School, Ukral (Manipur) defeated Saini Sr Sec School, Rewari (Haryana) 5-0. Zamik (26th,59th), Wungshunggam (3rd), Dinesh Kumar (19th) and Basanta Kumar (15th) scored.
Six teams that have qualified for quarter-finals are Meghalaya, Car Nicobar, Assam, West Bengal, Manipur and Sukanta Nagar (SAI).
