CHANDIGARH, Nov 27: DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 will lock horns with GGPS, Bokaro while Bal Bhawan Public School, New Delhi set up title clash with Kirpal Sagar Academy, Nawashahar, in the boys and girls sections respectively in the North-East Zone Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) volleyball championship being held at SD School in Sector 32.

In the boys semifinals today, DAV-8 got the better Shah Satnam Singh School, Sirsa 15-5, 15-13 while GGPS, Bokaro beat Chinmaya Public School, Bokaro 15-5, 15-8.

Bal Bhawan Public School, New Delhi, after initial hiccups outplayed Gyan Bharti Public School, New Delhi, 15-6, 15-8, in the first semifinal. However, Kirpal Sagar Academy, Nawashahar, had to rely on their reserve to beat MVN School, Faridabad 15-7, 17-16, 15-12, in the other semifinal, to keep their hopes alive for the title.

The final will be played tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Puneet for world meet

Simmi-Harsimran win
Simmi Rani of Government Girls College, Sector 11 and Harsimran Kaur of Government Model Senior Secondary School-22 beat Debo Smitha Majumdar (WB) and Jasleen Kaur (Punjab) 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0, to clinch the doubles title in the AITA ranking JP Open tennis championship being played at Allahabad.

Both the Chandigarh girls have also entered the singles final.

Simmi got the better of Naina Karsolia (AP) 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 while Harsimran defeated Debo Smitha Majumdar (WB) 6-0, 6-4, to reach the final.

Gold for Poonam
Poonam got the first position in the Rink Race I in the below 6 years girls group in the 12th Haryana roller skating championship which began here at the Sector 10 Skating Rink today. Krishna and Palvi were second and third respectively.

In the boys section, Rohit Goel stood first while Akshya Kapoor and Jagdeep were second and third respectively.

In the 6 to 9 years category, Aakshi Bhargava took the first place. Sheifali Gulati was second. Third place went to Krishna Ahuja.
