
Patiala8217;s Isha Dang wins Boogie Woogie8217; Kids8217; Dance Championship
Here8217;s another Punjabi doing the region proud. Fourteen-year-old Isha Dang of Patiala did the city and Punjab proud by winning the Boogie Woogie Under-15 Kids8217; Dance Championship in Mumbai. Competing with 43 dancers from all over the country, Isha proved to be the best performer in the grand finale of the contest held on September 8. Isha comes home with Rs five lakh and a trophy and is incidentally the first child dancer from Punjab to have won such a contest at the national level. The grand finale of the Boogie Woogie Kids8217; Championship will be aired on Sony Television on October 10. Isha, who has been in Mumbai for the last two months for the contest, had won the second prize in the Boogie Woogie Kids8217; Championship in July 2004.
8220;I am happy to have won the coveted contest. My hard work and training have paid off. I thank Punjabis and Patialvis for supporting me all along,8221; said an elated Isha, a Class IX student of Our Lady of Fatima Convent School. For now, she wants to concentrate on her studies as she aspires to compete for Civil Services. Her dance teacher Daisy Ahluwalia and her parents were with her during the grand finale. Dancing since the age of three, she has to her credit as many as 190 performances in the country and 92 prizes at both national and international level and Patiala is all set to give the little lady a rousing welcome.
