The mud-slinging continues. Jagmohan Dalmiya today sent a 8216;transparency8217; bouncer to Sharad Pawar 038; Co. on the controversial PILCOM issue and the awarding of TV rights. Only to be later 8220;proved wrong8221; by the Board.

At a press meet this afternoon, Dalmiya accused the Board of tinkering with the media rights tender process. The Cricket Association of Bengal CAB president charged that the Board8217;s marketing committee lost a whopping Rs 81.4 crore by 8220;wrongfully awarding the global media rights to Nimbus Communications when the loss could easily have been avoided8221;.

A top BCCI functionary, however, explained The Indian Express over phone how Dalmiya8217;s claim is 8220;entirely illogical and baseless8221;.

Dalmiya said the BCCI awarded rights, strangely, to one party which offered 612.18 million 8212; 18.09m or Rs 81.4 crore less than what could have been.

8220;Nimbus Communications8217; global bid was 612.18m, with its national and international packages being 504.09m and 108.09m, respectively. But a Singapore-based company, Nimbus Sports Singapore different from Nimbus Communications, bid 126.18m as international package 8212; 18.09 more than Nimbus Communications8217; international package bid,8221; Dalmiya read out.

He explained that in such a case, the selection for media rights, by default, should have been the combination of Nimbus Communications8217; national package 504.09m and Nimbus Sports Singapore8217;s international package 126.18m 8211; amounting to 630.27m.
