Technological change has indeed brought great convenience and comfort to our lives. In no other field is this more noticeable than in household appliances and other consumer gadgets. Current generation refrigerators, for example, preserve freshness and flavour of fruits and vegetables for much longer. These soft, elegant storehouses are sturdier, more durable, and have incredible cooling power. The space inside is item-wise well demarcated and, at the same time, allows greater flexibility to its users.

Things that were unthinkable just a few years back are now becoming an indispensable part of our fast-paced lives. The microwave oven, for example, has been a real breakthrough in the way food is cooked and heated. These ovens, promising better and faster cooking, have already started gracing our kitchens, especially those of working women. You can get the exact brown colour you’ve been striving for, in a jiffy and without loss of flavour or nutrition. Now you can give your snacks the crunchiest of textures, without oil. A real treat for health freaks! These ovens come with programmable timers, have feather touch control panels, and are easy to operate. It’s truly a housewife’s delight.

To give another example, cars have become more jazzy, and their interiors more plush. A music system and an AC now come as default features. There are several other add-ons that you may get your car fitted with. Car engines have become more fuel-efficient, more responsive, and whisper-silent. Sitting inside these cars is a wonderful experience. It is almost like sitting in your room. This driving machine, a technological marvel, now comes in a wide range of models.

Walk into a consumer gadget showroom. In the past customers had to wait to be heard. Now-a-days they are much sought after, and their choices respected. Consumers, in tandem, have also become more discerning.

A human body that is accustomed to such high levels of comfort and convenience would obviously get testy and agitated at the slightest of discomfiture, resulting in either disrespect to these objects of desire or to fellow human beings. Heard about the recent road rage cases reported in the press!
