
Counterfeiter absconding’
Arvind Mistry, of Nadiad-based Shrijee Finance Company and wanted in connection with a case of counterfeit currency of Rs 500, has been declared absconder’. It may be recalled that the State Bank of India’s Mandvi branch had detected the counterfeit notes when 53 such notes were deposited by a stamp vendor last Thursday. On interrogation, Mistry confessed that he received the currencies from a local industrialist, who, in turn, said he got it from Mistry his customer in Nadiad. Mistry is absconding ever since the scandal surfaced.
Accident deaths
Two persons were killed in a road mishap at different places in the city last night. According to police, nine-year-old Manish, a resident of Gayatri Krupa Society on VIP Road, was run over by a jeep, reportedly driven by Hemant Ramanlal Patel. The police said the young boy was accompanied by his father Jaeyshbhai Arvindbhai Shelat outside Harni Airport at around 9.45 p.m. when the incident occurred. In another mishap, S N Chaudhary, a resident of SSG Hostel, was killed when his motorcycle (GJ 2 F 421) was hit by a vehilce on R V Desai Road in Navapura Police Station area. Investigations into the cases are on.
Cash stolen
Cash and valuables worth Rs. 58,300 were reportedly stolen from house no. 28, Kabir Complex, Makarpura last night. According to police, the incident took place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. The miscreants entered the house by removing iron grills of the bedroom window and broke open the cupboard. In another incident, goods and cash worth Rs. 35,000 were reportedly stolen from a house in Bhadwada mohalla in Fatehpura locality under the City police Station. Police is investigating the cases.
Girl abducted
Chimanlal Poonamchand, a resident of Gokul Nagar on Gotri Road, has complained to the police that his minor daughter has been abducted by a Sunil Hargobind Das Suthar, a resident of Kharol village in Lunavada taluka of Panchmahals district. The J P Road police have registered a case and started investigations.
