
Briefcase stolen
A briefcase containing important documents and a cash of Rs 25,600 was stolen from an Ambassador car GJ-6-U-1904 on Wednesday, the police said.
According to the police, car-owner Shailesh Kumar Khatri8217;s driver had parked the vehicle outside the State Bank of India8217;s branch in Alkapuri. When he returned, he found the bag missing. A case of theft under section 379 IPC has been registered by the J P Road Police.
Suicide
One Mayankbhai Thakkar, a resident of Swaminanrayan Nagar, made an unsuccessful bid to end his life by consuming DDT on Wednesday, after a quarrel with his mother, the police said. The city police have registered a case of suicide and are investigating.
Assaulted
The Chhani police on Wednesday evening arrested one Shanabhai alias Jiko alias Bhikhabhai Gohil, a resident of Sadar area, for assaulting and injuring Phulabhai Pujabhai Gohil of Nadesari. According to the police, when the victim objected to the accused planting a sapling on the line separating their farms, the accused assaulted him with an iron rod. A case has been registered and is being investigated.
Burglaries
Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 36,500 were stolen in two cases of burglaries that took place in different parts of the city on Wednesday night, the police said. According to the police, ornaments worth Rs 26,500 were stolen from Balchandra Ramshankar Mankode8217;s house in Krishna Nagar Society and earrings worth Rs 10,000 from a house in Kailashdham Society on Sama Road. The police have registered cases and are investigating.
