
Three killed in accidents
Three women, including two of a family, were killed in two road accidents during the past twenty-four hours, cases registered in rural police stations of the district said. A complaint lodged in the Vyara police station by Khansinh Punia Gamit of Champawadi village said that one Kailashben and her daughter Munni died on the spot when they were hit by a speeding truck near Rampura village. The driver fled the scene of offence. In another case registered at the Kosamba police station, a woman, Jayaben Thakkar, was knocked down fatally during the night by an unidentified vehicle. The police have registered cases and are investigating further.
Body recovered
The Limbayat police recovered the dead body of an unidentified man, aged between 30 and 35, from beside Anwarnagar canal off Aanjna farm on the outskirts of the city. Providing details, the police said that the person was wearing a red shirt, brown trousers and a yellow bracelet. Relatives have been asked to contact the police and a case under CrPC 174 has been registered.
Housebreak
Unidentified persons broke into a house located at Gayatri Society of Udhna area during the night hours and decamped with cash and goods worth Rs 10,300, the Udhna police stated. Shiva Angat Pradhan, a resident of Gayatri Society II, told the police in a complaint that decamped with a television set, a wrist watch, four suitcases, a camera and Rs 4,800 cash around midnight. A case has been registered, but no arrests were made until Wednesday evening.

Vadodara: In a significant development, the J P Road police arrested one Mahiuddin Khurshid Pathan, a resident of Godhra, in connection with the theft of a gold-plated Buddha idol, weighing 3.720 kgs, in Novemeber 1998.
