
Electrocuted
Laxmikant Sureshchandra Shukla (20), a youth residing at Ambika Society near Dindoli Octroi post, died when he accidentally touched an overhead High Tension (HT) electric wire on Sunday morning. The Limbayat police, who have registered a case of accidental death, stated that Laxmikant was trying to draw water from a tank atop his house around 7 am when he came in contact with the HT wire. He was rushed to the Mahavir Hospital, where he was declared dead on admission.
Man missing
Pankaj Govind Rana (25), an industrial labourer, is reported missing from the Salabatpura area since Friday evening, the police were informed today. Soniben Govind Rana, a resident of 51, Rel Rahat Colony, Man Darwaja, told the police that her son left for his job at Bhathena on Friday night and has not returned since. Last seen, he was wearing a pair of jeans and a yellow shirt.
Absconding
Kamal Bansidhar Agarwal, residing at Priya Darshanya Apartments, G D Road, told the Umra police that his driver Mahesh Chandra is absconding with his Maruti Esteem since Sunday afternoon. According to Agarwal, Chandra took the car (GJ 5 F 3867) for servicing to M K Garage, Bamroli Road, and has not returned since.
Thieves caught
Two out of five thieves, who attempted to steal electric machine parts from the Fabrication yard of Essar Steel in Hazira around 3 a.m. on Sunday, were caught and handed over to the police. Security officer Bhagat Solanki and others managed to nab Dilip Sharma and Shakir Ibrahim Munnu while Madan Vanjari, Sheshrao Vanjari and Satish Pande managed to escape. House-breakn GOLD ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.10 lakh was reportedly stolen from a house in Rander, the police said. Raman Gulab Navik, a resident of bungalow no 39, Pavitra Row Houses, Rander, told the police that thieves broke into his house and escaped with 11 tolas’ of gold and cash.
