
Three robberies reported in city
Three cases of robbery have been reported in the city since Saturday night. In an incident at Durga galli in Gandhi Nagar, shopkeeper Gyan Prakash came to open his shop this morning when he found the lock broken. He discovered that Rs 1.17 lakh had been stolen. A case of burglary has been registered.
A garment shop was looted in Mahavir Chowk, Geeta Colony on Sunday night. The owner Govind Lal had kept Rs 7 lakh in the till yesterday. He went out for a short while and returned around 7.30 p.m. to find the money and a servant missing. Lal told the police that he suspects his servant.
In a third incident, Ashok galli garment shop owner Vijay Kumar Monga was looted of Rs 1.5 lakh. He closed his shop and was headed for his godown in Ram galli with his servant Ram Kishore when he heard a gunshot. Ram Kishore was injured, and two youth snatched Monga8217;s gold chain and fled with his briefcase. A beat constable arrived on the spot, where 25 other people had also gathered, and asked the public to help. When no one, including Monga, volunteered, he took Ram Kishore to the hospital.
Two arrested for duping travellers
The Anand Vihar police have arrested two people 30-year-old Uttar Pradesh resident Manmauji and Bihar resident Mangal Singh for allegedly duping travellers by drugging them. The two would first befriend travellers and them put sedatives in their food or beverages. After the victim became unconscious, they would take off with the person8217;s belongings. One suitcase stuffed with clothes, a tape recorder and cash has been recovered from them.
Two held on charge of attempt to murder
The Bhajanpura police have arrested one Shanti and her son Pankaj in an attempt to murder case. It is alleged that Shanti and her family members attacked one Chandra Prabha and her husband yesterday and demanded the Rs 500 that the couple had borrowed from them. Both the husband and wife were seriously injured.
Spurious cement factory owner, son nabbed
The owner of a spurious cement and clay mixing plant and his son were arrested on Saturday. The plant was discovered in Geeta Colony by the Operation Cell, East District. A raid was conducted and nine bags of clay, 70 bags of cement and 15 bags of cement mixed with clay were seized.
Unidentified body
The Railway Main Delhi police have asked for public help to identify the body of a 25-26-year-old male, 58217;38221; tall, dark complexion, slim build. The body was found near signal no. 123 between New Delhi Railway Station and Sadar Bazar Railway Station on Saturday.
