Interestingly, Patil announced that the state government would extend the high quality hospitalisation service to policemen in private hospitals through a special scheme. 8216;8216;Policemen cannot afford treatment at Jaslok or Ruby hospitals. So, a special hospitalisation assistance scheme started in Mumbai for policemen would be taken elsewhere in the state also,8217;8217; he said.

The state government would also expedite a housing scheme for policemen through private participation on a Build-Operate-Transfer basis.

8216;8216;The land is available with the police, but there is a paucity of funds. In such a scenario, it8217;s best to go ahead with BOT contracts with private parties,8217;8217; he said.

Asking policemen present on the occasion to have a better public interface, Patil said society was extremely sensitive towards good work and acknowledged positive policing immediately.
