
The CPIM on Wednesday registered a complaints against the role of the CRPF in Nandigram. Party MLA Rabin Mondal raised the issue and demanded a statement from Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who is also the Home Minister. 8220;The CRPF is committing excesses in Nandigram. They are moving around on their own. Law and order is a state subject. How can they move around without the state police?8221; asked Mondal. Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim asked the CM to make a statement on the issue. Sources said the CM was likely make a statement in the House on Thursday. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had appreciated the CRPF8217;s role in Nandigram.
No place for lensmen in House lobby
KOLKATA: Press photographers and TV news channel crew were on Wednesday banned from West Bengal Assembly lobby by Speaker H A Halim citing 8216;heightened security scenario8217;, sparking protests from the Opposition and CPIM8217;s allies. But, Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee of the Trinamool Congress said it was an attempt to prevent journalists from covering Opposition protests and dharnas on Nandigram.
