
MUMBAI, AUG 5: The Communist Party of India Marxist today announced the list of its candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The party has decided to fight on its own, contrary to its earlier stand of supporting Sharad Pawar8217;s Nationalist Congress Party.
CPI M leader Prabhakar Sanzgiri, while addressing a press conference this afternoon, said that the party would work towards defeating the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in Maharashtra. He said the party would field Rajaram Ozare at Dahanu, Chintama Gavit at Malegaon and Bhooribai Shevale at Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituencies. All the three constituencies are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, said Sanzgiri.
The CPM has decided to field three of its sittings MLAs, Narsaiyya Adan, C V Naik and Ramji Vartha from Solapur city, Kalamnuri and Jawhar Assembly constituencies respectively. The other places where CPM would have its candidates are Dahanu, Wada, Shahapur, Surgana, Dindori, Chandwad, Taloda, Akrani, Shahada Kinvat, Jalna, Ashti,Mazalgaon, Nevasa, Vardha, Ichalkaranji, Gandhinglaj, Sangli, Satara, Pathri, Andheri and Chinchpokli.
Sanzgiri said the party decided not to go with the Congress I due to the latter8217;s unacceptable economic policy. He added that the party would support a candidate from the left parties in all other constituencies.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal breakaway faction of Janata Dal, has decided to contest three Lok Sabha and 12 Assembly seats in Mumbai. RJD Mumbai unit president Chandrakant Indulkar said that the party would field LS candidates at South Mumbai, North-West Mumbai and North-East Mumbai. The Assembly seats the RJD plans to contest are Amboli, Malad, Chinchpokli, Trombay, Nehrunagar, Kurla, Kherwadi, Kandivli, Andheri, Santacruz, Matunga, Khetwadi, Thane city, Belapur and Bhivandi.
Indulkar said that aspiring candidates should contact at building no 8, Unnat Nagar, M G Road, Goregaon W for interviews.
