MHOW, APRIL 14: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Friday said the Vajpayee Government’s move to review the Constitution was nothing but the Bharatiya Janata Party’s "game-plan of introducing one religion, one culture and one school of thought".

"If their intentions are honest on the issue, they could have taken the Opposition parties into confidence before forming the Constitution review panel," Singh told newspersons at the birth place of Dr B R Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Singh said he has great regard for the review panel headed by former Supreme Court chief justice, M N Venkatchalaiah, but on a question of former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma, he reiterated "the Government’s intention are not honest on the issue".

"Basically, it is being done to prevent persons of foreign origin from occupying higher posts in the country," he said.

Singh alleged that the BJP was doing this at the behest of the RSS who want their ideology to be the basis of Constitution. "It is an attempt to spread communal hatred towards a particular minority community in the country," he alleged.

On the issue of ISI activities in the State, the Chief Minister said "intelligence bureau and RAW will be in a better position to say about this but as far as I know, keeping in mind the vast area of the state, it is negligible".

Singh said Madhya Pradesh cabinet would be expanded soon but remained non-committal on the date.
