Former Union minister Ram Jethmalani said on Wednesday he would contest against Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee from Lucknow as consensus was emerging on his candidature. Jethmalani met Swami Agnivesh and a delegation of prominent Muslim leaders who expressed support for his candidature. ‘‘I had put forth a condition that there be Opposition unity on my candidature. It appears to be getting fulfilled,’’ he said, adding he was in touch with ‘‘good friend’’ Mulayam Sing Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati.
