The members of the Consultative Committee of the Coal Ministry on Friday walked out of a meeting alleging that it was convened only for a brief period by Coal Minister Shibu Soren, to curtail discussions on problems plaguing the coal sector.
Soren sought to explain that as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Consultative Committee, meetings are convened between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. so that the members could attend the proceedings of the House. He requested the agitating members to participate. However, members of the panel belonging to both the Opposition and the Congress walked out of the meeting, which was scheduled for an hour.
