NEW DELHI, June 1: Congress party chief whip in the Lok Sabha Santosh Mohan Dev and five other MPs from North-East have asked the Union Home Ministry to provide immediate security to Assam Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary M K Subba. The Assam MLA who is also the president of the All Assom Gorkha Sammelana has been forced to shift his residence to New Delhi due to repeated threats from militant outfits in North-East.Shifting to Delhi, however, has not mitigated Subba's problems as threats from militant outfits like United Liberation Front of Assam and National Socialist Council of Nagaland. The `last warning' received by Subba in Delhi reminded him of S C Jamir who was shot at by the suspected militants in Nagaland House in New Delhi.``I am the target of the militants because I am a nationalist and have led Congressmen's fight against divisive forces. Some vested interests are, however, trying to malign me through a vicious character assassination campaign,'' Subba said.
