Cong party at 10 Janpath

It was party time at the Congress headquarters and 10 Janpath today with leaders and workers thronging to wish Sonia Gandhi as she turned 60

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and wife Gursharan Kaur were among Sonia8217;s first visitors. They presented her a bouquet, a shawl and a handcrafted momento containing an essay on her political career, letters from the Prime Minister and other eminent personalities. President APJ Abdul Kalam wished her and Cabinet ministers and Congress Working Committee members came calling. Congress chief ministers, who are in the Capital for the National Development Council NDC meeting, also came to wish Sonia.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister AK Antony, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were present. Congress chief ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad, Amarinder Singh and Bhupinder Singh Hooda too offered their greetings to the party president. The Seva Dal presented her with 60 saplings from across the country.
