CHANDIGARH, July 21: Traffic on the Sector 38 remained blocked as the activists of Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC) here today sat in a dharna to highlight the problems of the Shahpur Rajiv Colony residents in Sector 38 (West) here today.The dharna started at 8.30 a.m. and continued for over three hours. The traffic to Dhanas road (at the crossing of Dadu Majra) near CTU Depot had to be diverted.Congress leader Gurbachan Singh said that the Administration had adopted a pick-and-choose policy while issuing notices to the colony residents to vacate their dwellings.They were demanding alternate sites for the colony residents before they were shifted out. They also presented a memorandum to the sub-divisional magistrate B.S. Gill listing their demands. A large posse of police personnel was present on the spot and no untoward incident was reported.Besides Gurbachan Singh, those who participated in the dharna included Jai Narain Shastri, Amar Lal, Surinder Gupta, Sanjiv Sharma, P.D. Pathak and Shahpur Colony president Ram Raj. Top
