A condom pack that comes with a vibrating ring has shaken and stirred the Madhya Pradesh Government, which is considering if it8217;s thrilling enough to be judged a sex toy, and hence banned.
8220;Crezendo8221; is marketed by Hindustan Latex Ltd as 8220;truly your passport to The Republic of Pleasure8221;. In a state that is promoting yoga in a big way, with Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan showing the way, premium condom pack runs the risk of going nowhere. However, it has been around for at least the last few months now.
8220;Condoms should be used for family planning. When these are used for pleasure with a gimmick like this, they become a sex toy,8221; reasons PWD Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. 8220;We are examining the terms and conditions of drug licences under which the product is being sold across medical stores. We will ban the product if it does not meet our approval,8221; he told The Indian Express.
Vijayvargiya is also troubled by the fact that the condom is manufactured by a Central Government undertaking. 8220;The condom with a vibrating ring is imported from China and sold by the company,8221; he claimed. 8220;The Government should promote family planning and not something that is meant to give your partner pleasure.8221;
According to him governments should instead encourage 8220;yoga8221; that helps conserve and increase energy and not sex objects that cause loss of energy.
Recently, the Madhya Pradesh Government had made yoga part of school syllabus while banning sex education under a National Aids Control Organisation programme.
However, Controller of Food and Drug Administration Chandrahas Dube said he had no idea about the product nor had anyone asked him to investigate. 8220;Our mandate is to deal with products that can be consumed and not something like this,8221; he said, and wondered if the Department of Public Health and Family Welfare was looking into the matter.
But Joint Director of the Public Health and Family Welfare Department Dr Ashok Virang and his deputy Bhushan Srivastava, who deals with family planning, said they were as clueless.
