Condition of roads Dhumal’s top priority

Inter-state road connectivity remained the top agenda when Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal met Parkash Singh Badal and Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Chandigarh today. Dhumal discussed the repair and maintenance of Pinjore-Baddi road, where 18 kilometres of the stretch lies in Haryana, and construction of Kurali-Siswan-Baddi road. They also discussed problems accruing due bad condition of roads.

In a statement Dhumal said the Chief Minister of Punjab has assured construction of Kurali-Siswan-Baddi road by June 2009, for which necessary directions have been given to the officers concerned. Completion of this road would benefit the industrial units of both the states.

Talking to Hooda, Dhumal emphasised for need of timely repair of Pinjore-Baddi road as the stretch from Pinjore to Madhwala falls in Haryana. Hooda assured Dhumal to carry out repair of this road within 30 days.

Problems of industrialists and locals of Nalagarh-Baddi-Barotiwala area were also taken up.

Dhumal also assured Badal and Hooda to give priority to the construction and repair of the roads in border areas of Himachal.

Urging both the CMs to take timely action in a phased manner on common issues concerning all three states, he emphasised on bilateral talks among the northern states for better coordination.

Dhumal was in Chandigarh to attend the 18th Panchnad lecture on “ National Integration” organised by Chandigarh based Panchnad Research Institute held on Saturday.
