The complainant in the case of illegal human trafficking against Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi has sought the surrender of his passport before the trial court.

Moving an application before the court of JMIC PS Rai, complainant Gurpreet Singh pleaded that since the court had already framed charges and Daler was the main accused in the case, he should surrender his passport, just as all other accused had done.

Defence counsel BS Sodhi objected, saying that since Daler has been participating in the proceedings of the case every time the case was heard, surrendering of the passport was not required. The decision would be taken by the court only after hearing the arguments on the next date of hearing.

Meanwhile, Daler Mehndi, through his counsel, also moved an application under Section 207 of the CrPC, seeking copies of the statements made by all the prosecution witnesses before the court under Section 164 of CrPC.
