It HAs been a long wait, but after 20 years, Tamasha, the children8217;s magazine brought out by Katha, is back 8212; and how. The magazine is in a web avatar, known as Kidzzone, and is already popular, clocking over 1,000 hits a day.

Tamasha was first published for children in 1988. Although it was reasonably priced at Rs 10, it could not be continued as Katha evolved into a publishing house, focusing on translations and education. 8220;But Tamasha kick-started all other Katha activities. We wanted to reintroduce it online, firstly, to save paper and, secondly, to reach out to more children across the globe,8221; says Amrita Talwar of Katha. The online magazine was relaunched on the Katha site a few weeks ago. 8220;Kids love to google their way through educational sites either to do their homework or catch up with some supplementary reading. Kidzzone combines fun with learning,8221; says Talwar. On the site, children can weave their own stories, interact with virtual friends or contribute games and riddles.
