VADODARA, Nov 30: With a nod from the Food and Drugs Controller to go ahead with the Ayurvedic sex-tonic called Nai Chetna8217; which, given the context, may be loosely translated as New Sensation8217;, the Gujarat State Forest Development Corporation GSFDC has initiated the process of manufacturing and marketing the drug on a grand scale. The tonic will be out in the market in about a month8217;s time.
GSFDC Managing Director Dr D P S Verma told Express Newsline that the formal permission to manufacture and market the tonic 8212; now named Nai Chetna8217; and not Paurush8217; malehood or Kamdipan8217; flame of sexuality as planned earlier 8212; has been received here last week. The process to patent it has also been initiated, he added. Nai Chetna8217; is considered to be the desi version of Viagra, at least among Ayurvedic doctors and pharmacists in the State. The idea of GSFDC entering the sex-tonic market had recently been lapped up by the Health and Forest Departments heads, who showed keenness to promote it even in international markets.
GSFDC General Manager Dr A K Varshney and production supervisor Dr R K Hathi said that the medicine had been already tested pharmacologically. Field tests on 30 patients had also been carried out as required by law, with positive results, they added. The two experts said that Nai Chetna8217; was primarily a tonic and not a medicine, and improved blood circulation, reduced stress and enhanced sexual power in men. Though there are about a dozen herbs in the tonic, its main ingredients are 8220;safed muslee8221; bourivillianum and chlorophytun and 8220;ashwagandha8221; withania somnifera.
The duo said the tonic did not require a doctor8217;s prescription, and would be priced at about Rs 80 for 100 grams. It would last about a fortnight if taken twice daily. Though it was not advisable for a healthy man8217;s consumption, they insisted that the tonic, being ayurvedic, did not have any side-effects.
