Bokaro, Vijayawada win
Guru Gobind Singh Public School from Bokaro could not have chosen a better day (eve of 10th Sikh Guru’s birth anniversary) to win the inaugural CBSE National volleyball tournament. The Bokaro boys came back strongly from 4-12 in the first set to upset the calculations of DAV Centenary School (Vizag) and claim the title with a 15-13, 15-2 verdict in the final at Bal Bharati Public School.

St Mathew’s School (Vijayawada) defeated local outfit Bal Bhawan (Mayur Vihar, Ph-2) 8-15, 15-0, 15-6 in the girls final. The way the Vizag boys began their match against the Bokaro team, one expected a straight-set win for them. The boys from Andhra led 6-0 and 12-4 at one stage in the first set before the team from Bokaro recovered to win the set and the next set as well. Similar was the case with Bal Bhawan who began on a confident note by winning the first set. But St Mathew’s rallied brilliantly to blank them in the second. The Delhi team lost confidence and lost the third set as well.
