JAMMU, JAN 21: The release of the Pan Islamic Harkat-ul-Ansar HUA ideologue, Maulana Masood Azhar, for the safe release of hostages took a new turn on Friday with Chief Judicial Magistrate Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal calling for the record of a case against him and some other militants from the court of Forest Magistrate here.

This followed an application by the Chief Prosecuting Officer, who had earlier filed an application before the Forest Magistrate, Bala Jyoti, seeking permission to withdraw case pending disposal against Masood in the court. The application was, however, moved a day after the release of Masood along with two other hardcore militants in exchange of the passengers of the hijacked Indian Airlines plane at Kandhar.

Masood along with 25 other jailed militants was facing trial on charges of making an attempt to escape from the high security Kot Bhalwal prison.
