The programme will be held at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Chowk, off Laxmi Road, every evening, from 9.30 onwards. Usha Mangeshkar, Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shaunak Abhisheki, Asha Khadilkar, Pandit Arun Date, Shridhar Phadke, Kumari Bela Shende, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar will perform, in that order, during the eight-day-long festival. A musical feast which one and all can enjoy.Classic CollectionWith vintage wheels all set to make heads turn in the city this Sunday, at the second edition of The Indian Express VCCCI Vintage Car Rally, the family with probably one of the biggest collections of vintage and classic cars in the country, the Thakkers, has decided to extend its share of glitter to the event. Thus the Metro Vintage Car Museum set up by Ramesh Thakker, comprising a gleaming line-up of his cars, will be kept open for car-enthusiasts and curious public alike on March 19 between 5.00 and 7.00 p.m.``This is just to let the people get acquainted with vintage cars and garner some information about them before the major event,'' adds his son, Govind Thakker. With the place lined with informative magazines and placards placed before each model, providing its particulars, that sure would be a task made easy. Not to mention the experience of seeing the vintage beauties at such close quarters!King comedyIt's jubilation time for the Marathi weekly Lokprabha as it celebrates its silver jubilee. And what better way to mark the occasion than with a few smiles and laughs, as the Aashay Film Club has. With its programme on Marathi comedy films and film comedians called Chitrakatha Vinodveeranchi, Kahani Vinodi Cinemachi. This has already received a good audience in Mumbai, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar and Nashik, and will come to Pune on March 22 at the Ganesh Kala Krida Kendra.The programme will highlight the comic roles played by stalwarts like Master Vinayak, Raja Gosawi, Sharad Talwalkar, Dada Kondke, Ashok Saraf and Lakshmikant Berde amongst others. Weaving a story of scenes and dialogues from their famed films, the programme will be anchored by Dilip Prabhavalkar.Continuing with this mood of chasing away blues, three comedy films are being screened at the National Film Archive of India, from March 19 to 21 - When Comedy Was King, Silent Movies and Angoor. That ought to be enough to get all of us into a good mood!Kids and the conscienceThe objective of this workshop was to incorporate acting skills and help self-development in children. The result of the workshops in dramatics, conducted by Entre Nous and directed and written by Rucha Humnabadkar, was seen at the Nehru Memorial Hall on March 15, where children in the age-group of five to 13 presented two one-act plays with social messages. The accent was on acting, with minimum props and music. Dolly's Class revolved around a class of school-kids, who initially boo a new student in class and later accept him when he takes all their insults patiently. Colours of God was thought-provoking. A group of normal school-children visit a school for special children, and after some sessions, begin to understand that the latter have normal feelings like anyone else. Humnabadkar has done well to train the children and make them understand some serious concepts in life.
