KAPURTHALA, June 9: An Assistant Sub-Inspector, Piara Lal, posted in CIA staff here, was placed under suspension for allegedly beating up two youths of the town who had a minor scuffle with his two children on the Mall Road here, on Monday night.

SSP Iqbal Singh told mediapersons that departmental action would be taken against the ASI.

According to police, Vipin Kumar and Sanjay were allegedly beaten by the ASI when his two sons, who were skating on the Mall Road, told their father that they had a scuffle with two youths. The Assistant Sub Inspector, along with the police force, rushed to the Mall Road and mercilessly beat up the youths, injuring them in the process.

The injured have been admitted to the local Civil Hospital and have got a medico-legal report of their injuries. DSP Detective Parambir Singh has been deputed to look into the case.
