Unfinished business
With just about 25 days left for polling to begin, Joint Electoral Officer Uday Baxi revealed that almost 50 lakh electoral photo-identity cards are yet to be distributed. While Baxi seemed quite certain that the electoral office would be able to finish the massive distribution drive well before the polling begins, it seems like a rather daunting task. He also let slip that the electoral office still has not received photographs of about 20 per cent of the voters, casting doubt on the fact whether they would be able to cast their vote at all. “The commissioner is still to take a decision on the issue,” he said.

Sheila bashing
Many would have viewed BJP’s decision to prop MLA Vijay Jolly against the CM skeptically. Jolly, however, is fast proving that he can attract eye-balls through sheer nuisance value. On Wednesday at a press conference, Jolly, despite several requests from television reporters to keep his sound bite short, cajoled them into stretching it further. At one point, he even snatched a microphone out of the hands of a reporter to continue with his Sheila-bashing.
