MUMBAI, SEPT 11: Hanuman Devkar, wife Kiran and employee Mahadev, main accused in the alleged thrashing and sexual abuse of 11-year-old Dombivali resident Roshan Jha on August 24, have finally been arrested. Following an Express Newsline report on the incident – in which Roshan allegedly had chillies stuffed up his rectum by the accused because he stole an audio cassette from Devkar’s house – the accused have been held under under Sec 326 (grievous injury), 504 (threatening) and 506 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code. Earlier, the Manpada police had lodged an offence only under Sec 323 (simple injury) and 34 (common intent) of the IPC.

Roshan’s uncle, Naval Jha (25) too had been assaulted by Devkar, his wife and employee, and received five stitches on his head. Devkar had owned up to the incident, saying he had done Roshan’s parents `a favour’ by preventing the boy from growing up into a criminal.
