Channy-Mahal win team title

CHANDIGARH, Jan 10: SS Channy 90 and H P S Mahal 93 won the team event with a gross score ot 183 in the first Civil Services Officers...

CHANDIGARH, Jan 10: SS Channy 90 and H P S Mahal 93 won the team event with a gross score ot 183 in the first Civil Services Officers Golf Championship, organised by Chandigarh Golf Association at the Chandigarh Golf Course here today. G S Sandhu 93 and RS Sandhu 93 finished runners-up with 186.

However, in the nett section S K Sharma 76 and Rupinder Singh 78 emerged the winners with a total of 154. P K Choudhary 75 and S C Choudhary 82 got the runners-up trophy with a score to 157.

P K Choudhary 89 bagged the individual prize while P K Varma was runner-up with a card of 92 in the gross section. S S Channy cornered glory in the nett section by claiming title with 75. HPS Mahal had to remained satisfied with the second position. Mahan and Channy had returned an identical card of 75. The deadlock was resolved taking the score of the last six holes.

GS Hira won the prize for longest drive while L M Goyalk got the prize for the nearest to pin8217;. Punjab Cricket Association president I S Bindra distributed the prizes.
