CHANDIGARH, MARCH 5: Hosts Chandigarh made a flying start on the opening day of the first North Zone Veterans athletic meet which got underway here at the Panjab University ground. Chandigarh got three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the in the men8217;s group.

Dilbag Singh won first gold of the day for Chandigarh in the plus 40 category in the 800-metre event. Sada Ram plus 45 and Teja Singh plus 65 were the other gold medallist in the 800 metres event.

Delhi8217;s Kamani Chauhan and Sawatantar got first positions in the 800 metres in the plus 45 and 55 groups, respectively, in the women8217;s section. Results: Men: Plus 40 : 800m: 1 Dilbag Chd, 2 OM Prakash Hry, 3 Massa Singh Pb. Plus 45: 1 Sada Ram Chd, 2 Basant Singh Hry, 3 Amrik Singh Chd. Plus 50: 1 Rashpal Singh Pb, 2 Raghuvir Singh Hry, 3 SR Jaswal HP. Plus 60: 1 Gurbachan Singh Hry. Plus: 1 Teja Singh Chd, 2 Jatinder Marwaha Chd, 3 HS Flora dli. Women: 800m: Plus 35: 1 Rani Devi Hry. Plus 40: 1 Asha Dutt HP, 2 Shashi Hry. Plus 45: 1 Kamini Chauhan Dli, 2 Chander Lata Dli. Plus 50: 1 Sawatantar Dli. Plus 55: 1 Prem Lata Dubey.
