Steep hike in upper class rail fares
The railway budget for 1998-99 today proposed an across-the-board increase in passenger fares of all classes, including suburban travel, to mop up an additional Rs 450 crore a year, but left freight rates untouched. There will be a steep increase in upper class fares and a modest hike in second class and sleeper class, says a report from New Delhi.

Pak tests no threat: PM
