Thackeray barred from contesting
Acting on the advice of the Election Commission, the President of India has issued a notification debarring Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray from contesting polls and disenfranchising him till December 10, 2001. EC8217;s recommendation to the President was binding in nature.
