West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul rated Pakistan8217;s former captain Wasim Akram and Shane Warne as the two most difficult bowlers he has faced in international cricket.
8220;Akram was difficult because of his ability to swing the cricket ball and also seam off the wicket,8221; Chanderpaul said. 8220;Warne turns the ball a long way and he is one of those guys who will work you out.8221;
Chanderpaul, the 32-year-old left-handed batsman from Guayana, achieved a milestone on Sunday in the second cricket Test against Pakistan when he became the eighth West Indian batsman to play 100 Test matches.
Chanderpaul8217;s 12 years in international cricket has been dogged with injuries since he made his debut against England in 1994 8212; the same home series in which Brian Lara played the then world record innings of 375 at St. John8217;s, Antigua.
8220;I enjoyed watching Lara8217;s 375 and all his other great innings but being there watching as a young fella how he was scoring that 179 against England in 2004 was a joy. The way he stroked the ball, the shots he played in the innings was inspiring for me,8221; he said.
8220;Another batter I like to look at is Laxman because he seems to have so much time to stroke the ball. It8217;s inspiring for any batter.8221;
