BALAGUER SPAIN, July 23: Giant-killing 15-year-old Indian Sandipan Chanda 6 continued his brilliant run scoring a sterling win over compatriot P Konguvel to take the lead jointly after the seventh round of third Balaguer International Open Chess tournament here. Overnight leader, GM Lev Pshakis 6 played a safe draw allowing Sandipan and GM Komlenovic to catch up with him, after both scored hard fought victories last night.

GM J Beccera, IM N Dublan and IM Herrera all with 5.5 points were placed second followed by six Indians IM K Sasikiran, Neelotpal Das, V Saravanan, Rahul Shetty and Roktim Bandopadhyay with five points each.

Other results: GM J Becerra 5.5 drew with GM Lev Psakhis 6, GM D Komljenovic 6 bt IM T Karolyi 5, IM N Dublan 5.5 drew with IM I Herrera 5.5, GM A Baburin 5 drew with IM V Georgiev 5, K Sasikiran 5 drew with GM Westernin 5, GM Karen Movsziszian 5 bt SS Ganguly 4, Vincent Cohin 4 lost to Neelotpal Das 5, V Saravanan 5 bt De Pal SanMartin 4.
