
CALCUTTA, Jan 21: The state Congress has blamed the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance NDA for ignoring the 8220;anti-people character of the CPIM-led Left Front Government8221;. PCC working president Priyaranjan Dasmunshi said yesterday: 8220;Once the BJP-led NDA has come in power, they have decided to live up to the tradition set by the previous Central governments 8211; ignore the misdeeds of the CPIM.8221;
Drawing plans for a series of state-wide agitational programmes against the State and the Central Governments, the Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to urge the Union Home Minister L.K. Advani to order a probe into 8220;the affairs of the state police.8221; The state police has become 8220;a stooge of the CPIM,8221; Dasmunshi said. 8220;We would like Advani to order probe into corruption in the high places in the state police and collapse of the police administration in the state,8221; he added.
The PCC working presidentsaid the Congress would like the probe to be jointly conducted by the National Police Commission and National Vigilance Commission. Priyaranjan Dasmunshi said his party would also request three ministers in the BJP-led Government from West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, Ajit Panja and Tapan Sikdar to discuss with the Prime Minister.
Elaborating, Dasmunshi said: 8220;The collapse of state police is apparent from the fact that they have completely failed to contain the ISI activities in North Bengal and in districts like North 24-Paraganas, Siliguri, Nadia, Murshidabad and Howrah.8221;
