Defending the provisions of POTA which make supporting a terrorist organisation an offence, the Tamil Nadu government today submitted before the Supreme Court that the contradictory affidavits filed by the Union Government on the arrest of MDMK leader Vaiko were of no value.

This submission was made by senior advocate P.P. Rao, who appeared for the state government, while addressing arguments in support of Section 21 of POTA before a bench comprising Justice S. Rajendra Babu and Justice G.P. Mathur.

Rao submitted it was for the designated court to decide the validity of arrest of Vaiko under Section 21 of POTA for giving a speech in support of LTTE.
