With the leap of a new generation as the guru-shishya relationship is transcending to a new avatar, the celebrations on Children8217;s Day will get vibrant and exuberant today. It8217;s no more only about children standing in a queue for sweets; from filmi entertainment to ramp walk, an exciting lineup of colourful activities has been planned by the various schools in the city to make the day special for their kids.

At Blossoms Public School BPS, the kids from the junior and senior kindergartens will start their day with an inter-house Maharashtrian folk dance competition followed by an elocution competition. A fancy dress competition for the nursery, KG, and upper KG students is also organised for the little ones. While children will be dressed to the best the KG teachers will put up a cultural programme too. 8220;To revive the memory of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru a speech has been arranged as we strongly believe that children should understand the importance of this day,8221; says Kamla Bisht, principal, BPS. The day for these kids will conclude with distribution of prizes and sweets.

Fun filled celebrations will make a difference in the regular school activities at Judson High School in Pimpri as they will celebrate Fun Day today. Making the children extremely delighted to commemorate the birthday of Pandit Nehru, these kids will walk to schools in casual outfits where they would have jumping castles awaiting their surprise and it will be the teachers who would entertain them with skits, dances and fashion show. 8220;We thought it is a unique idea to surprise our students. It will be fun for children to see their otherwise strict teachers walking the ramp,8221; shares Shabana Sayeed, a teacher at JHS.

Making the day memorable, Phoenix School will present each child with a gift and films like Finding Nemo, Bal Ganesh and Hanuman will be screened in the school. Following a similar trend at Dr DY Patil School the film Salaam Bacche will be showcased to mark the celebrations along with dance performances by their teachers. Poly Mukherjee, principal of Christeria School in Nigdi, says the academy would be starting a new activity centre soon, which would be an ideal gift for their students. 8220;At the activity centre students can enjoy and have fun; moreover, the activities here will help them in their overall development,8221; she says.

While Shikshan Prasarak Mandali8217;s English Medium School SPM will take the kids to a picnic at Saras Baug and will also stage a play at the school along with other activities, Sundarabai Marathe Vidyalaya in Kharadi has planned a short trip to a park near the school along with a visit to Behere8217;s old age home. 8220;The idea is to inculcate affection and affinity towards senior citizens,8221; says Sanjay Somwanshi, principal, SMV. The Genba Sopanrao Moze Secondary and Higher Secondary School has organised a Hindi poem recitation and elocution competition and Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Vidyalaya on Paud road will hold essay, debate and drawing competitions in the later this month as examinations as going on in the school.
