Cases against Dhavde

Pune antique arms dealer Rakesh Dhavde was chargesheeted on November 13 after the ATS found his alleged involvement in the 2003 Parbhani mosque bomb blast case. He was arrested with Ajay Rahirkar, treasurer of Abhinav Bharat, and is suspected to be linked to Lt Col Srikant Prasad Purohit. He is alleged to have known one of the three Parbhani bombers as well as organised the 2003 arms training camp in Sinhagad, Pune.

Dhavde is also suspected to be linked to Maruti Wagh, the only accused in the 2004 Jalna mosque blast. He is suspected to have made arrangements for Wagh and was charge-sheeted in this case last week. With the Jalna and Parbhani blasts suspected to be linked to the same group of people, the CBI, which is investigating the 2006 Nanded blast, has sought Dhavde8217;s custody.
