Carlos Alberto to coach Oman

MUSCAT, MAR 1: Oman have appointed Brazil8217;s 1970 World Cup captain Carlos Alberto Torres to coach their National team, the Oman Football Association OFA said on Wednesday.

8220;He8217;s a big name who played alongside Pele in the team that won the 1970 World Cup finals in Mexico,8221; Raisi said.

Carlos Alberto coached Brazil8217;s Botafogo club before his appointment to Oman, his first stint in the gulf.

Oman are preparing for the World Cup qualifying competition in which they have been drawn with Syria, Laos and Philippines in Asian Group One.
