Cancel Ranjit Singh8217;s reprieve, President urged President

Bitta said he would lead a delegation of like-minded leaders from other parties to submit a memorandum to the president to urge him to revoke his order for commuting a few months from the life sentence of 13 years awarded to Bhai Ranjit Singh in the Nirankari murder case.

Bitta said Bhai Ranjit Singh had reneged his promise by his belligerent utterances of 8220;khooni Baisakhi8221; bloody Baisakhi and for trying to revive the separatist agenda.

Bitta called upon the Centre and Punjab governments to convene an all-party meeting to deliberate on the action against Bhai Ranjit Singh due to his recent provocative utterances from the Akal Takht.

He said the Centre and the state government should take firm steps to prevent Bhai Ranjit Singh from vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab. Bitta also endorsed the SGPC demand for removal of Bhai Ranjit Singh.

The former Youth Congress chief said he would invite leaders like Satyapal Dang and Joginder Dayal CPI, Mangat Ram Pasla CPM and Laxmi Kanta Chawla BJP to accompany him to present the memorandum to the President.
