C D Patel seeks CBI probe into Bardoli violence

AHMEDABAD, July 1: The Congress has demanded CBI probe into the circumstances leading to communal violence in the Bardoli.

On his return here from a tour of the trouble-torn town on Wednesday, State Congress president C D Patel alleged that the violence was a preplanned conspiracy by the ruling BJP to foment communal trouble. He accused police of inaction despite having prior knowledge of the incident.

Patel said he had met many people who told him police had permitted hooligans to take out an armed rally from near a place of worship.

He alleged that at many places police did not register complaints of arson despite shop owners being present.
