The increasing influx of fake currency would be discussed at the bi-annual talks between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Rangers that began in Lahore today.

BSF’s 17-member delegation, led by Additional Director General UK Bansal, today left for the meeting during the wee hours. He said all border-related issues, including intrusion, smuggling of drugs and fake currency, would be discussed in length in the next two days.

Bansal, who was received by Pak Rangers Deputy Director General Shafagat Nawaj on Pakistani side at the Attari-Wagah border, said talks would focus on joint operations and cooperation to check smuggling.

“There is no single point from where the fake currency is being thrust into the Indian territories. It is coming from Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan,” said Bansal.

The Pakistani media gathered on the other side of the border and asked Bansal about the recent death of Pakistani prisoner Asif when he was waiting for repatriation in Amritsar Central Jail. The ADG said they were willing to send Pakistani prisoners who have completed their sentences to their country, but there were problems from the Pakistan’s High Commission.
